Sahabat englishschoolen kali ini kita akan membahas tentang Question Tag, materi Question Tag ini adalah materi tingkat SMA dan juga untuk tes masuk sekolah tinggi seperti STAN, STIS dan sekolah kedinasan lainnya.

Definisi Question Tag

Question Tag adalah pertanyaan berekor yang fungsi nya untuk mempertegas suatu pernyataan.

Jika bahasa indonesia akan bermakna “kan”.

- John works in this factory, doesn’t he?

(John bekerja di pabrik ini kan?)

Ada aturan dasar untuk Question Tag sendiri yaitu jika kalimat (+) maka Question Tag (-) maupun sebaliknya. Lihat tabel

 A. (+) SENTENCE, (-) QUESTION TAG

Contoh:

- She loves me, doesn’t she?

*Verb yang digunakan adalah V-1 (loves) maka auxiliary yang digunakan does lihat tabel.

- He went to school, didn’t he?

- She is going to come here, isn’t she?
- He has gone to Bali, hasn't he?
- We will visit museum tomorrow, will not we?
- They have many problems, don't they?

B. (-) SENTENCE, (+) QUESTION TAG

Contoh:

- They don’t want to join us, do they?

- Robert hasn’t done his work, has he?
- John didn't want to watch horror movie, did he?
- Bill can't speak english, can he?
- My father isn't reading novel, is he?

Kalimat juga menjadi (-) jika mengandung unsur makna (-) seperti

- Never

- Seldom

- No____

- Hardly

- Scarcely

- Rarely

- Few

- Little

Contoh:

- She never seems care about me, does she?

- Ratih had hardly done her examination, had she?
- Nobody believes you, do they/
- Dimas seldom works in his office, does he?
- Only few students have passed the test, have they?

C. EXCEPTION (Pengecualian)

1. Jika Subject berakhiran (one/ body)

- Anyone/ anybody

- Everyone/ everybody

- No one/ nobody

Maka subject Question Tag menjadi “They”

Contoh:

- Nobody visited you yesterday, did they?

- Everyone has gone, haven’t they?
- Anyone has visited universal studio, haven't they?
- Anybody should obey the rules, shouldn't they?

2. Jika Subject berakhiran (thing)

- Anything

- Everything

- Nothing

- Something

Maka subject Question Tag menjadi “it”

Contoh:

- Everything is okay, isn’t it?

- Anything has finished, hasn’t it?
- Nothing went wrong, did it?
- Something disturbs you everynight, doesn't it?

3. Ketika kalimat ajakan (Let’s) maka Question Tag nya (Shall we?)

Contoh:

- Let’s go to cinema, shall we?

- Let’s speak english, shall we?

4. Ketika kalimat PERINTAH maka Question Tag nya (Will you?)

Contoh

- Shut up, will you?

- Open the door, will you?

5. Pernyataan (+) “I am”  maka Question Tag nya “aren’t I”

Contoh:

- I am pretty, aren’t I?

- I am not bad boy, am I?

6. Ketika Verb modal Have to / Has to maka Auxiliary Question Tag nya (do, does)

Contoh

- She has to work until midnight, doesn’t she?

- Everyone has to face their own problems, don't they?
- We had to work hard, didn't we?
